Hon. William Ruto
The Deputy President of
Kenya, Hon William Ruto, jetted in the country yesterday morning, after the
ongoing trial at The Hague took a break for the weekend. His coming to the
country was steered by the African Union Extraordinary Summit that required
President Uhuru Kenyatta to attend in Addis Ababa, hence the deputy president
had to take charge as outlined in the constitution.
Mr. Ruto however, is
expected back on Monday at the Hague as the prosecution team insists that he
cannot be tried in absentia, unless stated otherwise by the ICC Appeal Chamber.
The trial of Kenya's
Deputy President and his Co-accused Joshua Sang, will run until 1st of November 2013 upon which they will be given
a break to enhance commencement of Uhuru Kenyatta's trial scheduled to start on
November 12.
