Modern Slavery Rankings

According to The Walk Free Foundation, approximately 30 million people all over the world are victims of slavery. The organization came up with the assumption, having conducted a research with 162 countries participating.
The Global Slavery Index 2013 ranks India as the leading country with over 14 million people living in conditions of slavery.
However, Mauritania has the highest proportion with nearly 4% of its citizens enslaved.
This Australian Based Organization defines the current slavery to involve forced marriages, human trafficking and debt bondages.
The International labor Organization estimates victims of forced labour to be 21 million worldwide, whereas the Walk Free Foundation has its estimate at 29.8 million.
For the record, India, China, Pakistan and Nigeria are among the leading countries with most of their citizens enslaved. This therefore accounts for the 3/4 of the total estimates of modern slavery.

This survey has backing of some of the key figures in the world such as US Hillary Clinton. Clinton asserts that though the figures given might not be accurate, it provides a base.
